Corona Virus and Market update – Out of 88 confirmed infected in the U.S. so far, 2 were fatal, but 8 others were also serious/critical.

If we’re looking from perspective of gauging societal impact / planning against worst case scenarios, we’re looking at an 11% fatal/critical impact rate.

11% would not be going to work/school, 11% of parents would need help caring for their children, 11% of family and neighbors would need help getting meds, etc.

Public / Semi-public air conditioning systems that mix outside with inside air would need to be avoided. Employers would likely recognize this and would hopefully require employees to work from home.

Urgent care providers really need to implement software or manual procedures where people wouldn’t be waiting in a common area. This could mean dispatching transportation to people on waiting lists while previously used rooms are being cleaned.

Every other industry that queues people up would need the same or similar. Temporary private staging “tents” could be a solution as well. They would have to separate air which would be tricky.

Air duct cleaning technologies would help in many places also.

I think the updated number is significantly worse than the 2 to 5% percent previously considered, and that would seriously impact discretionary retail and the market.

I don’t see market predictions as being possible for now…

The good news, we’ll have the company of the rest of the 89% population dealing with the issues along side us, in the U.S.

Challenges, for neighborhoods in the U.S. without the same health care access as the national average, and in other countries without the same health care access as the US and more technologically advanced societes, there will have to be extreme isolation plans or other protection plans put in place to deal with this crisis.

Every possible resource will be needed to address these issues, locally and globally. We’ll need to focus on enabling people to more effectively collaborate to direct resources to problems remotely.
